More than three years after the onset of COVID-19 panic in the U.S. that lead to widespread mask mandates, it appears that those mandates may be making a bit of a comeback.
Deadline reported that Lionsgate has instituted a mask mandate, with Lionsgate/Starz response manager Sommer McElroy announcing the move internally via email. Some workers recently tested positive for COVID-19, and the mask requirement applies to the third and fifth floors of the building, the email noted, according to Deadline, which indicated the facility is located in Santa Monica, California.
“Employees must wear a medical grade face covering (surgical mask, KN95 or N95) when indoors except when alone in an office with the door closed, actively eating, actively drinking at their desk or workstation, or if they are the only individual present in a large open workspace,” McElroy noted in the memo, according to the outlet.
Morris Brown College, which is located in Georgia, recently announced the reinstatment of a mask mandate.
“All students and employees are required to wear face masks (staff may remove in their offices while alone),” a notice posted on Instagram states. “Students must maintain physical distancing.”
“Institutional guidelines for gathering sizes must be followed. There will be no parties or large student events on campus for the next two weeks,” the notice also states.
Sharing the link to an article about the college’s mask mandate, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia tweeted, “Americans have had enough COVID hysteria. WE WILL NOT COMPLY!”
