OAKLAND — An Antioch man has been charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor for allegedly crashing into two people during a recent sideshow, authorities said.

The 21-year-old suspect is being held in lieu of $191,000 bail, court records show. He has been charged with two felony reckless driving counts, a felony count of committing a hit and run and a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

The Contra Costa District Attorney’s office announced the charges Wednesday in a news rleease.

The crash took place during an early morning sideshow at the Marina Plaza in Antioch. At a little before 3 a.m. on Aug. 6, the man allegedly crashed into another car at West 9th and G streets. Two people were injured, one seriously, authorities said.

Police allege that the man attempted to run away after the collision, but an officer arrested him, the news release says.

District Attorney Diana Becton took the opportunity to condemn sideshows, which are a common subject of publicly voiced annoyance by local residents.

“The District Attorney’s Office will continue to be vigilant in prosecuting offenses stemming from sideshows under California law,” Becton said in a written statement.
