Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1965 Ford Mustang GT hardtop. The pony car is powered by an A-code 289 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include center console, wood-rimmed steering wheel, disc brakes, and styled steel wheels. Finished in red with white vinyl top and complemented by a red vinyl “Pony” interior, this Mustang comes from the selling dealer with service records and a clear title.

While the Mustang was introduced in April 1964, the GT Equipment Group was not introduced until the 1965 model year. Though most often associated with the 2+2 fastback (also a 1965 intro) and convertible, the GT package was also available on the hardtop. Combined with the available vinyl top, this Mustang hardtop offers a dignified look compared to its sportier, more popular brethren.

The original Caspian Blue hue has been replaced with red under prior ownership. Notable exterior features include white vinyl top, GT fog lamps, GT stripes, side mirrors, and dual exhausts with trumpet-style GT tips.

Whitewall tires are mounted on stylish 15-inch styled steel wheels.

This Mustang is equipped with the optional Interior Decor Group “Pony” interior. The seats, seat belts, center console, door panels, dash, and carpeting all are red. Additional amenities include accessory head restraints, wood-rimmed steering wheel and dashboard trim, upgraded radio, and newer embroidered floor mats.

The instrument panel includes a 140-mph speedometer, column-mounted Rally Pac with tachometer and clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer reads 11,319 miles, though the selling dealer states that true mileage on the chassis is unknown. Steering is not power-assisted.

This Mustang is equipped with the GT Equipment Group, which triggered the 225-horsepower 289 V8 with four-barrel carburetor as standard equipment. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

This Mustang is equipped with manual disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. Photos showing the underside are available for viewing in the image carousel on the auction page.

The auction for this 1965 Ford Mustang GT hardtop ends on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 12:45 p.m. (PDT)
