Celebrity chef Guy Fieri was targeted by the online cancelation mob after he was photographed shaking hands with former President Donald Trump.
Fieri took a photo with Trump at the UFC 290 event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday. Trump was also seen speaking with actor Mark Wahlberg and director Mel Gibson.
Despite his record of philanthropy, Fieri was lambasted by many on the left who were outraged that he had been nice to the former president.
“Congratulations to @GuyFieri for completely trashing his brand by gripping & grinning with Trump last night. Your audience/fan base isn’t Trumpers, bruh,” tweeted liberal activist Laura Chapin.
Among those who objected was Jack White, former lead singer of White Stripes.
“Anybody who ‘normalizes’ or treats this disgusting fascist, racist, con man, disgusting piece of s*** Trump with any level of respect is ALSO disgusting in my book,” wrote White on his Instagram account. “That’s you Joe Rogan, you Mel Gibson, you Mark Wahlberg, you Guy Fieri. This is a statement from me, not a discussion/debate.”
“Guy Fieri was seen with Donald Trump last night and my only question is: what’s wrong with these celebrities? Why are they trying to normalize Trump’s behavior? He’s the twice indicted, twice impeached, disgraced former president who’s a sexual abuser. He’s not a good guy,” tweeted liberal TikTok influencer Harry Sisson.
“Trump ruins everything. You can’t shake hands with racist rapist Nazis–the stain won’t wash off,” said another detractor.
“Hey @FoodNetwork, I knew that Guy Fieri was a bigot, but I didn’t know that he was a Fascist too,” read another reply. “Boycott Guy Fieri!”
Another tweet that called for a boycott against Fieri and his “Flavortown” restaurants garnered over 16k “likes” and 7.2k retweets.
