Every once in awhile, an old vehicle pops up that makes people scratch their collective heads. These vehicles often feature ultra-low miles to the point where they were only driven a few times around the block. No, these aren’t mothballed future collectibles; rather, they’re vehicles that have had unique circumstances thrown upon them. This 148-mile 1985 Chevrolet C10 Silverado is one of those vehicles, stored its entire life. You’ll be able to purchase it at the GAA Classic Cars auction on July 22, 2023.

The current owner, who’s owned it for 19 years, bought it from the son of the original owner, whom he characterized as somewhat peculiar — it goes without saying when one buys a new vehicle and doesn’t drive it. This Silverado is 100 percent original and chock full of options. Though we can’t verify that it has everything but dual tanks, we do see that it features AM/FM stereo, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and 305 four-barrel with four-speed automatic.

A glance at the options label also shows short-bed Fleetside body, heavy-duty power brakes, Comfortilt steering, Rally wheels, quartz electric clock, chromed rear bumper, Bonus Value Option P (presumably a collection of popular options at a cut-rate price), tinted glass, intermittent wipers, front stabilizer bar, electronic speed control, power steering, heavy-duty battery, and solid Midnight Black paint. Sounds like someone had fun with the options sheet!

Take a look at the side trim — intact and in excellent condition. Original tires too! Open the door and the notice the rubber trim and how it’s still pliable. Then a peek at the interior and the plastic is still on the seats and the paper sleeve is still on the visor. Crawl underneath and you’ll see the shiny muffler as part of the nicely preserved exhaust system. No, don’t you dare suggest this truck has been restored with NOS parts! If you don’t believe me, check out the cleanliness under the hood. There’s even chalk marks deep in the engine compartment.

Now, if you want to believe Hagerty’s price guide, a pristine C10 Silverado of this vintage should bring $35,200. However, that doesn’t take into account the new-car newness of this pickup. The owner claims a similar vehicle — yes, there is a similar one with 200 miles, believe it or not — was sold for $113,000. Could this black beauty achieve the same pricing stature?
