OAKLAND — Four people were wounded in three shootings that happened within two hours Friday night and early Saturday in different areas of the city, authorities said.
All of the victims were in stable condition Saturday.
The shootings are not related, police said.
About 12:10 a.m. Saturday two men, one a 36-year-old Richmond resident and the other a 39-year-old Oakland resident, were shot near the intersection of 76th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland. Police said the two injured men knew each other.
The younger man was sitting in a parked vehicle and the other man was standing outside, authorities said. They told police they heard multiple gunshots and realized they had been wounded. The men got a ride to a hospital from another person.
The shooting activated a gunshot detection system and police found multiple shell casings in the area.
Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and if the men were the intended targets. No arrests have been made.
About 10:10 p.m. a 40-year-old Oakland man was shot in the 2200 block of Lakeshore Avenue, across from Lake Merritt.
The man told police he got into a verbal confrontation with another man driving a car while he was walking home. The driver stopped, got out of the car, and after more words were exchanged the driver shot the man, got back in his vehicle and drove off, police said.
Police have not said what the confrontation was about. The shooter was being sought. No details on the driver or his vehicle were available.
And about 10 p.m. a 39-year-old Oakland woman was shot multiple times while sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Myrtle Street in West Oakland.
The woman was shot by a man who fled the area on foot. Police believe the man is known by the woman but a motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, authorities said.
The woman was driven by some other people to another location in West Oakland where police and paramedics were called.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in the East Oakland double shooting and up to $5,000 in the other shootings for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
