A man was killed and two other men were wounded in shootings Saturday night and early Sunday in Oakland, authorities said.

The fatal shooting, the third in 24 hours, happened at 2:45 a.m. Sunday in East Oakland on the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue.

Officers responding to a gunshot detection system alert found a 44-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene

Police don’t have a motive yet for the killing and no arrests have been made. The killing is the 49th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year, following another fatal shooting and fatal stabbing in other parts of the city the day prior. Last year at this time police had investigated 52 homicides in the city.

Earlier in the night, on Saturday evening at 10 p.m., a 37-year-old Hayward man was shot during an apparent attempted robbery near downtown in the 1700 block of Castro Street.

The man told police he was confronted by someone who tried to take his gold necklace. He told police he resisted and was running away when the suspect shot at him, hitting him multiple times.

The man got a ride from another person to a hospital, where he was in stable condition. A detailed description of the suspect has not been released.

The third shooting occurred at 5:30 p.m., when a 43-year-old man was shot multiple times during a drive-by shooting in West Oakland. The man was standing outside in the 1600 block of Chestnut Street when a car drove by and someone inside it began shooting at him. He was hit at least twice in the leg.

The man was also able to get a ride to a nearby hospital, where he too was in stable condition. A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for the homicide and $5,000 in the other shootings with information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
