The Monterey Trolley is rolling again.
Monterey-Salinas Transit started free trolley service around the City of Monterey for the summer season on Saturday.
The trackless trolley will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day.
MST spokesperson Ikuyo Yoneda-Lopez said the trolley is recognizable because of its distinct bells and is beloved by tourists and locals alike.
“[It’s] a great way to avoid parking, congestion, traffic, and kind of help our environment,” Yoneda-Lopez said.
The trolley runs in a loop from downtown Monterey to the aquarium, stopping at Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row and other stops along the way.
Another service change for summer will see the MST route from Salinas to the campus of California State University Monterey Bay suspended until fall classes resume on Aug. 21.
