Shellyne Rodriguez, the machete-wielding now-former Hunter College professor, surrendered to police on Thursday.
Police hit Rodriguez with criminal charges of harassment and menacing, according to the New York Post, after she allegedly threatened a reporter with a machete.

A smirking Shellyne Rodriguez, 45, held her head high as she was escorted out of the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx in handcuffs just after 11 a.m. — several hours after turning herself in over Tuesday’s caught-on-camera ordeal.
The professor had her slew of tattoos on full display, including “FTP” (for “F**k the police”) inked on her fingers, as well as an image of brass knuckles and the boxing term “southpaw” scrawled across her hand.

On Tuesday, a New York Post reporter and photographer knocked on Rodriguez’s apartment door, hoping to question her about a recent incident in which she was caught on camera cursing at Hunter College pro-life students.
But the now-former assistant art professor was not interested in talking.
“Get the f*** away from my door or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete,” she screamed at the journalists.
At one point during the interaction, Rodriguez put the blade of her machete on the reporter’s neck, video shows. Then, after the journalists left the building, Rodriguez chased them down and allegedly assaulted the reporter, kicking him in the shins.
Fortunately, she did not make good on her threat to butcher the journalists.

Still, after being sacked from Hunter College, Rodriguez released a statement in which she portrayed herself as the real victim.
The ordeal, she claimed, has “taken a toll on my mental health, robbing me of my sense of safety, and creating reasonable fear that they would show up at my home to cause me physical harm, as has happened with so many other women who have similarly had their personal info exposed as a form of politically motivated harassment.”
The statement also said, “As much as this incident has stakes for my life, it is ultimately just one part of a broader political struggle taking place across the country. Right wing media organizations are weaponizing and sensationalizing this case to further their agenda, and using me as a prism through which to project their attacks on women, trans people, black people, Latinx people, migrants, and beyond.”
Moreover, Rodriguez accused Hunter College of having “capitulated” to “racists, white nationalists, and misogynists” by firing her.
