OAKLAND — Nearly six years after a 24-year-old woman was gunned down in West Oakland, police have arrested a suspect, court records show.

Randall Keith Jackson, 40, has been arrested and charged with murdering Arlene Delores George, along with an enhancement alleging that Jackson personally shot her. The charges were filed last January, but Jackson was not arrested until late April, when police tracked him down in Portland, Oregon, according to court records.

George was fatally shot around 7 a.m. on June 20, 2017. Police believe she was shot inside a vehicle near 32nd and Adeline Streets, and that Jackson then drove to the 2800 block of Hannah Street, pulled George’s body out of the car, and left her in the middle of the roadway there.

A probable cause statement written by an Oakland police investigator and filed in court says that Jackson was identified as a suspect through “DNA evidence recovered from the scene, video surveillance recovered from the area, and witness statements.” Police say George spent the day with him before he killed her.

George was described in media reports at the time as the mother of a then-6-year-old boy who lived in San Francisco.

Authorities haven’t released the suspected motive. Jackson has not yet entered a plea and is next due in court on June 23, according to court records. In the meantime, he’s being held in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail.
