Team Hope fundraiser
Campbell Park is the site of Team Hope, a fun run fundraiser for Huntington’s disease research, set for Saturday, June 17th at 9:30 a.m. and hosted by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA). All proceeds from the 10k timed run and 5k walk support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington’s disease and their families.
Team Hope, the HDSA’s largest national grassroots fundraising event, takes place in over 100 cities across the U.S. and has raised more than $20 million since its inception in 2007.
Therese Crutcher-Marin, president of the HDSA’s San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, says families of those affected by Huntington’s “are resilient, strong, giving and supportive of the HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of everyone affected by HD and their families.”
Huntington’s disease is an inherited disorder that causes nerve cells in parts of the brain to gradually break down and die. The disease attacks areas of the brain that help to control voluntary movement.
Campbell Park is located at East Campbell and Gilman avenues. For registration and donation information, visit hdsa.org/thwsanjose.
