It may surprise you to learn that Meguiar’s is a company more than a century old. Created by Frank Meguiar, Jr. in 1901, the Evansville, Indiana (now Irvine, California) company first peddled furniture polish and, then, when automobiles became a thing, Frank turned his attention to flivvers. Of course, cars were made out of wood back in the day, so the finishes were similar to the furniture he’d been treating with his own product.

Later, when wood was phased out of automotive production, Meguiar’s products were used by professionals like manufacturers, dealers, body stops and detailers. However, as automobiles became more of a DIY affair — think customs and hot rods — it became clear to the company that consumers were a lucrative target market, so Meguiar’s began offering its products on the shelves of retailers.

Today, Meguiar’s has a line of car-care solutions to meet the needs of enthusiasts and DIYers alike. On ClassicCars TV, our YouTube Channel, we have evaluated several products that may meet the needs of your vehicle.

New in the Meguiar’s roster is the Hot Rims Black Cleaner. Created for those who think black is beautiful, this foaming gel was formulated for maximum cleaning with a gentle touch for those with matte, glossy, satin or black chrome wheel finishes.

Why ignore your tires while cleaning your wheels? That’s where Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Tire Shine comes in. If you’re from the carnauba world of automotive paint maintenance (read: you haven’t kept up with technology), ceramic coatings are the current fave for pro detailers and shade-tree detailers alike. Ceramic coatings generally consist of minerals that create a chemical bond with water-repellant properties. Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Tire Shine aims to add high shine to your vehicle along with a durable, long-lasting finish.

Another new product from Meguiar’s is the Ultimate Insane Shine Paint Glosser. This spray will increase your paint’s saturation to enhance gloss. The end result is a boost  in your car’s shine and reflections because, by golly, who doesn’t like shiny objects?

Join ClassicCar TV’s “Jalopy Jeff” Sutton as he guides you through these three Meguiar’s products and gives you his thoughts on the products’ initial results and their subsequent durability.
