
Community Award nominations
Nominations are open through June 1 for Sunnyvale’s 2023 Community Awards, honoring those who have made an impact on the Sunnyvale community.
Award categories are Distinguished Resident of the Year, Educator of the Year, High School Student of the Year, Business/Businessperson of the Year, Contribution to the Arts, Environmental Achievement and Volunteer of the Year.
A minimum of three nominations per category will be required. If fewer than three nominations are received, the category will not be awarded. Residents can submit multiple nominations, using a separate form for each one.

Meet the filmmaker
Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Dorothy Fadiman will be at the Sunnyvale Community Theatre May 5 to discuss her documentary “Moment by Moment: The Healing Journey of Molly Hale.” The 2005 film is about a woman who suffered a spinal cord injury and her journey of rehabilitation.

Firebird orchestra concert
To celebrate Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month, the Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library are hosting a May 7 concert by the Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra at the Sunnyvale Public Library, 665 W. Olive Ave. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in the library’s program room. Arrive early as seats will be limited.
