Art Vistas
Los Gatos’ rising young artists will be in the spotlight on Friday, May 19. As part of the nonprofit Art Vistas’ series of showcases, Alta Vista Elementary students will have their artwork from this year on display. Art Vistas partnered with the Union School District to provide art instruction to students from kindergarten through eighth grade. For more information and showtimes—and to view the 2021 virtual art gallery—visit https://www.artvistas.org/art-show-info.html.
Parks and public works concerns
Notice something awry on your walk through town or a local park? A new online form allows residents to submit their concerns and observations about parks or public works—things like potholes, litter or blighted trees. To log a concern, residents must log in to www.LosGatosCA.gov/PPW.
Library survey
Whether you’ve never set foot in the Los Gatos Public Library or you spend every weekend lost in the stacks, the town wants your feedback. The library has launched a survey that allows residents to provide feedback on how they use—or why they don’t use—library services. Questions cover how well the library caters to different age groups, how inclusive offerings are and how welcoming staff and other patrons are, among other topics.

River cleanup day
Saturday, May 20, is National River Cleanup Day, and Los Gatos residents can participate in a cleanup event along Los Gatos Creek Trail. The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Interested participants should register ahead of time, and supplies including personal protective equipment will be provided onsite. To register, visit https://tinyurl.com/LGCreekTrail.
Historic Preservation Committee
If you consider yourself a local history buff, now is the time to apply to sit on the Town of Los Gatos’ Historic Preservation Committee. The volunteer body helps determine which pieces of the town’s legacy—in the form of historic residences and businesses—get preserved for future residents. Applications are due May 26 at 4 p.m. To apply, visit www.LosGatosCA.com/CommissionApplication.
