PALO ALTO – A Palo Alto resident interrupted an apparent burglary at his home last week, police said.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 1500 block of Dana Avenue, the Palo Alto Police Department said in a statement.
The resident, a man in his 20s, told police he was upstairs when he heard loud noise. When he went to investigate, he found someone had broken the glass of the rear door.
Police said the resident then heard the sound of someone running outside and a vehicle driving away.
The resident did not see the burglar and it did not appear as though the burglar entered the residence.
Police said it is possible the burglar believed the home was unoccupied at the time and fled after hearing the resident run downstairs.
