Although shotgun suppressors aren’t new, they aren’t as prevalent as other chamberings, so JK Armament did something about it. Specifically, the company introduced two new suppressors for 12-gauge shotguns with a unique patented baffle design. The design makes the suppressors mission configurable and lightweight for enhanced flexibility.
JK Armament Shotgun Suppressors
Constructed of 7075 billet aluminum, the suppressors feature a Type 3 hard anodized coating. Likewise, each suppressor uses the same patented trumpet-style baffles and swappable internal choke end caps. This keeps the shot cup and wad together as the shot travels through the suppressor. As a result, you get increased velocity and accuracy. In addition, this ensures that the plastic doesn’t fall back into the suppressor or host.
The configurable design of each suppressor allows for varying mission-specific configurations. Correspondingly, the SXG 12G can be configured from 3.75-inches to 11.75-inches with a weight between 4.3-16 ounces. Likewise, the VersaX 12G is a smaller version of the SXG and can be arranged from 3.75 inches to 7.9 inches. The weight of the VersaX is 4.3-9.3 ounces.
“We were after a practical shotgun suppressor. We wanted it light, affordable, and mission configurable,” said JK’s Founder and Director of R&D, Jake Kunsky.
JK also offers the CRMD (Choke Replacement Muzzle Device) to mount your suppressor to your shotgun host. The JK Bald Eagle 12G replaces your choke tube and threads onto your barrel, making it suppressor ready for an additional $179.00.
The current CRMD’s are threaded for Rem Choke, Benelli Crio Style, Benelli Mobil Style, Beretta Optima HP, Browning Invector Plus, and Mossberg 500 Style. However, if your choke is different, JK also offers custom choke services to get your shotgun ready.
The JK Armament shotgun suppressors have a barrel length restriction of 7 inches and are full auto-rated. JK recommends using shot shells with a shot cup-style wad and states that the suppressors are compatible with bird shot (steel and lead), buckshot, and slugs. Likewise, the choke caps are also available in skeet, modified, and full.
