Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1970 Plymouth GTX. Restored in the late 1990s, this U-code GTX is powered by a 440 four-barrel V8 backed by an 727 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include bucket seats, Air Grabber hood, Wilwood power disc brakes and floor-mounted Hurst shifter. Finished in In Violet over a black vinyl interior, this GTX comes from the selling dealer with a clear North Carolina title.
During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in In Violet (more commonly known by its Dodge name, Plum Crazy). Features include hood pins, V21 black hood stripe, Air Grabber air induction hood, wheel opening moldings, and dual mirrors with driver-side manual remote. The seller indicates the paint shows age-related imperfections.
A set of slotted U.S. Mags wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The seller states that the tires feature 2017 date codes and have plenty of tread left.
Both the front bucket seats and rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl with white piping. Features include power steering, simulated woodgrain accents, AM radio and floor-mounted Hurst Pro-Matic ratchet shifter. The seller says that this GTX does not have rear seat belts.
A 150-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure and voltage are located on the instrument panel. An iEquus 8,000-rpm tachometer is mounted on the steering column, and a set of three Summit Racing Equipment gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature and amps is positioned under the dashboard. The odometer reads 4,216 miles though the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
Power is provided by a replacement 1973 440ci V8 and backed by a 727 three-speed automatic transmission. Engine bay features include black cast aluminum valve covers, aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, open-element air cleaner and aluminum radiator. The seller states that the fender tag is not present. This St. Louis-built GTX was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and solid rear-drive axle. Braking is provided by power Wilwood discs on all four wheels.
