Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this restored 1966 Rambler Custom Cross Country wagon that has been part of a private collection for the last 15 years. The Rambler is powered by a 196ci inline-six mated to an automatic transmission. Features include a roof-mounted Travel Rack, reclining front seats and whitewall tires. Finished in classic 1950s two-tone colors over a peach and black vinyl and cloth interior, this Rambler will include period-style luggage and a clear title as part of the sale.
The two-tone Sierra Peach and Cinnamon Bronze finish was applied during restoration. The brightwork, which includes the grille, hood ornaments, bumpers and guards, side moldings, and roof-mounted Travel Rack, is noted to be in good condition. The drop-down tailgate provides access to the rear cargo compartment.
Steel 15-inch wheels with full wheel covers are wrapped in wide whitewall tires.
The interior is fitted with peach vinyl and black cloth upholstery with matching door panels and black carpeting. Additional features include a reclining front bench seat and armrests on the door panels.
Instrumentation consists of a 110-mph speedometer, gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature, analog clock and warning light for the oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 84,928 miles, but the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 125-horsepower 196ci OHV inline-six features a single-barrel carburetor and oil-bath air cleaner. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted Flashaway Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
