MILLBRAE — Three suspects — including one minor — were arrested Saturday for breaking into 48 cars earlier that day, authorities said.

At 10:27 a.m., the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office got an alert from the Automated License Plate Reader system that a stolen red Hyundai was spotted going eastbound near the Millbrae Avenue and US 101 intersection in Millbrae.

Deputies responded and while driving through the Westin Hotel parking lot they heard a car alarm going off and discovered the car’s window had been broken.

Soon after, a witness reported that the Hyundai had crashed into a home at Helen and Tioga drives and three males got out of the vehicle, ran away and jumped over some fences. The witness then saw them enter the Green Hills Country Club.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with the San Bruno Police Department, arrested the three suspects.

Sgt. Javier Acosta told the Mercury News that authorities have evidence connecting the three individuals with 48 car burglaries from that day, although it’s unknown what was taken from the vehicles.
