In case you missed it, back in 2019, RMJ Tactical purchased the American Tomahawk Company and reintroduced the Model 1. The tomahawk was everything you would expect from RMJ Tactical, taking the original to the next level. Now, the American Tomahawk Company adds a tactical field knife with its Rifleman. Part tactical, part outdoors, all business.

The American Tomahawk Company Rifleman

The Rifleman has an inherently tactical lineage, coming from the minds of RMJ Tactical and American Tomahawk Company. However, it serves a more diverse utility set. According to the company, the Rifleman shares classic lines from the knives that built this country. Likewise, the intent behind the Rifleman was a great all-around fixed blade, capable of a variety of cutting chores.

The Rifleman is constructed of AEB-L stainless steel and offers good corrosion resistance for tackling even the toughest environments. Likewise, AEB-L has a good balance between edge retention and the ability to put an edge on it in the field. Correspondingly, the high grind helps provide a keen edge for excellent slicing capabilities.

The 5.375-inch drop point blade is ideal for chores around the house or the campsite. This includes food prep, splitting kindling, making feather sticks, camp craft, etc. Likewise, the 0.156-inch-thick blade stock helps keep the knife down to a lightweight of 6.4 ounces. However, it is still robust enough for tough tasks.

The Rifleman features black Richlite handle scales, with a comparable feel to paper Micarta and the denseness and hardness of G10. Vertical texturing helps increase the grip of the scales, whether wet or dry, without being overly aggressive and causing discomfort.

The knife comes in a rustic leather sheath with a removable belt strap. As a result, you can affix a different carry method or leave it off altogether for pack/pouch carry.
