ANTIOCH — A teenager was hospitalized after a shooting Monday during an apparent robbery attempt by two teens later arrested as suspects, authorities said.
In a statement Monday night, police said dispatchers received a call shortly after 3:25 p.m. from a person who said a family member in the 1800 block of Crown Peak Way had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a teen suffering from a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. After providing medical aid, first responders took the teen to a hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition.
Soon after officers learned that at least two other armed people had tried to rob the teen of property before shooting him, dispatchers received calls from nearby residents reporting people hiding in nearby backyards.
Officers responded, setting up a perimeter and bringing in a K-9 unit and a drone, and later found and took two teens into custody. The two were later arrested on suspicion of charges related to robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, and taken to county juvenile hall.
An officer who suffered minor injuries during the search was taken to a hospital for treatment.
