A San Jose man died early Sunday morning when his car slammed into a truck that had rolled over minutes earlier on Highway 101.
The 63-year-old man was killed at about 4:20 a.m. when his silver 2009 Toyota Camry barreled into a 1999 red GMC Sierra truck that sat wrecked in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, south of Story Road, according to Alicia Moreno, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
His name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Just a few minutes earlier, the driver of the GMC appeared to lose control of the truck, causing it to roll over on highway, Moreno said. The truck’s driver appeared to escape without injury, moments before the truck was hit by the Camry.
The driver of the truck was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, Moreno said.
The wrecks closed a portion of the highway for slightly more than two hours.
