SCOTLAND: In September, Fremont residents Mona Shah and Joe Samagond’s travels took them to Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in September. “We visited the charming Scone Palace (pictured) in the picturesque heart of Perthshire, Scotland,” Joe says. “It’s famous as the home of the Stone of Destiny, upon which all 42 Scottish monarchs, including Macbeth, Robert the Bruce and Charles II, were once crowned. Generations of Murrays have made it their family home. The palace is only 60 miles from Balmoral Castle, home to Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away around the time we were visiting Scone Palace.”

TRAVEL TIPS: “Be prepared to meet friendly people all over Scotland. Don’t be intimidated by weather forecasts of rain, which don’t often pan out and when they do, don’t last very long. If you visit nearby Edinburgh, check out this fabulous Indian restaurant Dishoom (https://www.dishoom.com/edinburgh/).”
