An armed robber expected to score an easy heist at a Houston hotel. However, he was not expecting the hotel clerk to have her own gun to defend herself.
Newly-released footage shows the moment a would-be robber enters a hotel off the Katy Freeway around 7 a.m. on Jan. 16. The man had his identity hidden with a hood and a mask while he was armed with a rifle.
The robber demanded the hotel clerk give him money from the register. He pointed the rifle at the female clerk and then attempted to climb over the counter. While the robber was trying to hurdle the counter, the clerk whipped out her own gun and startled the thief.
The robber panics and sprints out of the hotel in fear.
The Houston Police Department describes the suspect as a “black male, 20 to 25 years old, 6’2 to 6’4, 150 to 180 pounds, thin build, blue shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.”
The Houston Police Department is asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information on the attempted robbery should contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477. Tips that lead to the arrest of the suspect may qualify for a $5,000 reward.
