The family of Alexis Gabe, a 23-year-old Oakley woman murdered more than a year ago, is asking volunteers to join in an “important search” on Tuesday.

Rowena Gabe, Alexis’ mother, posted the request on Monday asking for those who “are serious and interested in joining” the “urgent search” for her daughter’s partial remains to message her directly on the “Help Bring Alexis Gabe Home” Facebook page. She would not say where the search would be located, but will message those interested directly.

“Sorry for the short notice, but it’s a very important search,” Rowena Gabe wrote in her post.

Alexis disappeared on the evening of Jan. 26, 2022, after she left her Oakley home to visit her ex-boyfriend Marshall Curtis Jones in Antioch. Police later determined Jones killed her, but before they could arrest him at the Seattle-area apartment where he had relocated, he charged at the arresting officers and was fatally shot, forever quenching hopes that he would reveal her whereabouts.

The case drew national attention – including from the KlaasKIdsFoundation – and a Facebook page to help find her drew nearly 17,000 followers.

After months of searching for her, her partial remains were found on Nov. 3 in a remote area near Plymouth in Amador County.

But the family has not given up in their efforts to continue searching and helping to get justice for Alexis.

Now, family members and volunteers are searching again this week for more partial remains to bring her back home. They also hope that they will help in giving the family more answers about what happened to her and if anyone assisted Jones in any way.
