This 23-window 1961 Volkswagen Microbus is owned by Will Ferrell and, like the superstar actor, it’s a Southern California original. Finished in two-tone turquoise and white, the VW received a thorough restoration with numerous NOS parts to bring it to like-new condition. Ron Burgundy would be impressed by the fit and finish of this VW, which is being offered for sale with no reserve at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction.
The quality of this VW’s build is apparent from every angle. Since the restoration, it has been well kept and driven regularly. The Microbus is powered by a 1,600cc four-cylinder engine with a 12-volt system, both upgraded from stock. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
As a proper SoCal Volkswagen Bus, it features a factory sliding sunroof, jail bars on the rear windows, polished deco trim and whitewall tires. The two-tone exterior is complemented by a prominent VW emblem up front and extensive brightwork throughout.
The turquoise and white interior has grab rails, coat hooks, seating for nine, and features the original Sapphire push-button AM radio knobs to maintain an endless summer vibe.
Will Ferrell’s 23-window VW Microbus is available with no reserve at the 2023 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction and will cross the stage on Friday, January 27, 2023.
The auction runs from January 21-29 at Westworld of Scottsdale.
