The Atlanta Hawks are finalizing a deal to make Kyle Korver an assistant general manager, sources told ESPN on Friday.
Korver, promoted after spending months as the franchise’s director of player affairs and development, will play a significant role in a reshaped front office under general manager Landry Fields.
After Travis Schlenk recently stepped down as president of basketball operations, Fields has made several staff changes, and elevating Korver had been one of his immediate priorities, sources said. The Hawks have been active in trade discussions, especially around forward John Collins, sources said.
Korver, who worked with the Brooklyn Nets in player development for the 2021-22 season, will continue to play a significant role in the Hawks’ player development strategies.
He played 17 NBA seasons for six teams over his career, including 4½ seasons and a 2015 All-Star Game appearance with the Hawks. Considered one of the league’s best all-time shooters, Korver averaged 9.7 points over 1,232 games during his career.
