A man was fatally shot Sunday morning in West Oakland.

The adult man, who was in his 60s and lived in the area, was shot at about 10:30 a.m. near 21st and Adeline streets, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the killing. No arrests have been announced.

The fatal shooting marks the second death investigated as a homicide by Oakland police so far this year. Police had investigated four homicides within the city at this same point in 2022.
