ANTIOCH — Two people were in stable condition at a hospital after each was injured in a shooting apparently targeting one victim near a city intersection, authorities said.

In a statement Wednesday, police said dispatchers got a call at 2:17 p.m. Tuesday reporting a shooting on Deer Valley Road near Asilomar Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her lower body. Paramedics took her to a hospital, where she was later listed in stable condition.

Officers soon learned of a second victim, a man who arrived at a hospital and said he had been shot near the intersection. The man, who had also been shot in the lower body, was also listed in stable condition. Police said he was the shooter’s intended target.

Investigators who canvassed the intersection found spent shell casings at Deer Valley and Asilomar, and were asking nearby residents to check surveillance cameras. Police did not provide any suspect or vehicle description.
