A Baltimore woman is accused of stealing a $12,000 watch at a Las Vegas casino this week while she was back in Sin City for a court appearance on accusations of stealing a $100,000 watch in June. This week, officers discovered a watch inside the body of the suspect.
Sara Richards, 33, was in Las Vegas to face charges of allegedly stealing a watch valued at $100,000. Richards had a court date of Dec. 12.
A man alleges that he met Richards at a hotel bar on the Las Vegas Strip on June 4. The pair reportedly ventured to the man’s hotel room.
The man reportedly told police that “the female said she needed help with money,” and he generously offered her $1,000. However, he allegedly couldn’t remember the code to the safe in his room and contacted staff at the hotel to help him open the safe. He is said to have given Richards $1,000, according to MEAWW.
The alleged victim told authorities he fell asleep and woke up to find his Patek Philippe wristwatch, worth approximately $100,000, missing. The man suspected that he was drugged, and law enforcement collected the champagne bottle and glasses the couple had been drinking.
Richards approached an undercover officer the next day at a nearby hotel regarding prostitution, according to police. She reportedly had outstanding warrants for prostitution and was taken into custody.
Richards admitted that she met the man and that he gave her money, but denied stealing the opulent watch. She was booked for grand larceny and posted $3,000 bond.
On Sunday — one day before Richards was scheduled to appear in court for her preliminary hearing regarding the watch theft accusations — police responded to another expensive wristwatch robbery.
A man informed police that a woman stole his $12,000 Rolex watch from his Las Vegas hotel room.
KVUU-TV reported, “The alleged victim told investigators he had met Richards in the hotel and later went to his room to drink wine. She said he should take his Rolex off because it ‘would cut her’ if he left it on.”
The outlet added, “Richards panicked, he said, and left the room – walking down the hall at a different gait than before – taking shorter steps now.”
Officers said they found a white powdery substance at the bottom of the man’s wine glass.
Security tracked down Richards, but she didn’t appear to have the stolen watch in her possession.
However, security used a metal detector wand and the device “kept alarming around her vaginal region.” A watch was inside the woman’s genitals. Richards agreed to remove the watch. Police said, “She stated that we were going to find it anyways at jail and she did not want to go through the hassle.”
Authorities placed the watch inside a biohazard bag and it was impounded. Police said they also found a pill capsule containing a white powdery substance on Richards.
Richards reportedly faces charges of theft over $100,000 in value, residential burglary, grand larceny of $100,000 or more, administering drugs to aid in commission of a felony, and grand larceny between $5,000 to $25,000.
Richards’ Monday court hearing was canceled. Her next court hearing is set for Jan. 10. Richards was released after she posted bail.
