‘Tis the season that keeps on giving. And we’re not talking about the dreadfully packed shopping malls, traffic accidents due to inclement weather or mind-numbing Christmas songs working their way into your brain and playing on an incessant loop. Nope—we’re talking Christmas treats.

If you celebrate Christmas, you definitely have some core memories of enjoying special food items around this time of year. I remember the nights of making Swiss Miss hot chocolate and trying way too hard to make it look photogenic for Instagram. I’d try multiple times to swirl a perfect layer of whipped cream on top, add peppermint bark shavings with a cheese grater, dip in a candy cane on the side and throw on a few marshmallows for good measure. I’d then proceed to plop in front of the TV and watch “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” a fuzzy blanket on my lap and purring cat by my side. Ahh, those were simpler times.

As adults, Christmas often comes with a lot of anxiety, whether that be about the state of our bank accounts once the shopping is all over or traveling for hours to be berated by extended family members at the get-together. But amidst it all, there are still ways for us to enjoy Christmas as we get older, and that’s by allowing ourselves a little treat. It could be anything from a gingerbread cookie to a Little Debbie Christmas tree cake—whatever your snack of choice may be, savor every bite and let it bring you back to the good old days.

There’s a lot of pressure to feel joy around the holidays, but sometimes, it’s okay to just enjoy the little things. Here are some of our favorite, classic holiday goodies in lovely ink form to help you get into the spirit this year. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m gonna go make myself some hot chocolate.
