ANTIOCH — An 18-year-old Antioch woman and three teens have been arrested and charged with seven felonies in connection with a violent carjacking in which the victims, a man and woman in their 70s, were beaten and knocked down by four assailants.

The woman is due in court next month for a preliminary hearing, where a judge will determine if there is enough evidence to file charges. She has been charged with carjacking, robbery, elder abuse, stealing a car, dissuading a witness, and receiving stolen property, along with enhancements for causing great bodily injury, court records show.

The three other suspects, all younger than 18, are being charged in juvenile court, which doesn’t publicize its records. The current status of their case is unknown.

The charges stem from an incident at the Antioch eBART station that occurred around 9 p.m. on Sept. 28. The victims, a 78-year-old man and 72-year-old woman, were robbed of a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus and an iPhone. During the carjacking, the man suffered a broken shoulder, which required reconstructive surgery, police say. The woman suffered a bloody nose.

Police tracked the Lincoln with license plate readers to the Target on Century Boulevard in Pittsburg, where it was recovered two days later. Target security videos showed the suspects walking into the store, police say.

A week after the carjacking, police investigators received a tip from an Antioch Unified School District official, who identified one of the suspects, authorities say. The four were also captured on a BART officer’s body camera during an unrelated Oct. 5 incident at the Rockridge station, according to police.

The woman is being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
