Red interiors are currently trending on certain modern specialty vehicles, but this design aesthetic is nothing new: vehicles from the 1980s commonly used this color scheme. Here’s one example.

“California truck, no rust, in great condition,” the listing begins. “I am selling my classic F-250 4×4 with a 460 engine.”

It’s no mystery that the Ford F-Series of pickups have become iconic American favorites: this truck has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States for over 40 years in a row.

Th F-Series lineup of full-sized pickups first debuted in 1948 and will be turning 75 years old in just a few weeks. The series has been offered in a variety of configurations including light-duty to heavy-duty trucks, chassis-cab pickups, panel vans (prior to the E-Series), and more. The F-Series’ chassis was also repurposed to underpin related vehicles in the Ford family like the Excursion and Bronco.

This black regular-cab pickup comes from the eighth generation of the F-Series which was introduced in 1987. Ford OBS (or “Old Body Style”) enthusiasts call this the “Bricknose” generation of F-Series pickups.

When this design launched, the cab from the prior model was reused, but the body received a new front end with composite headlamps. Trim levels ranged from Custom on the low end all the way to XLT Lariat on the high end. The latter received treatment including cloth upholstery, sport wheel covers, a chrome grille, carpeting, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

This black XLT Lariat from 1989 is well-equipped with add-ons such as a sliding glass rear window and clearance lights at top of the cab. The seller states that the truck is largely original, but some upgrades include aftermarket aluminum wheels and a Kenwood stereo. The original radio and a set of camper-style mirrors are included with the sale.

This F-Series generation continued until 1991, and as of 2021, Ford pickups evolved into their 14th generation which continues today. Are red cloth interiors offered on the 2023 model year F-250? We’ll have to check Ford’s website to find out!

The seller is asking $18,900 or best offer for this clean and reportedly rust-free Bricknose.
