Although .22LR isn’t necessarily a self-defense round, it has its place as a backup belly gun for close quarters. Not to mention it is an economical round for range practice and is great for dispatching varmints. For this reason, Bond Arms adds the classic American cartridge to its Rawhide pistol with the new model 22LR.
The Bond Arms Rawhide 22LR
Made after its namesake, like the original Rawhide, the 22LR is constructed of stainless steel. The stainless-steel construction includes both the frame and barrel, adding to its rugged dependability. Likewise, featuring the Rough series tumble-finish helps protect the steel while adding to the overall rough aesthetics.
The Rawhide features Bond Arms’ original Cowboy hand-cannon frame with nylon panel grips, which means it has no trigger guard. As a result, it is fully compatible with all Bond Arms Hand-Cannon accessory barrels. However, this only applies to non-Stinger models.
This means that you can easily swap the barrel from .22LR to the original .357/.38 barrel. So, you can practice with the .22LR and carry the .357/.38 for personal defense.
The single-action Rawhide utilizes a cross-bolt safety, allowing you to carry the derringer in a pocket holster safely. Likewise, the rebounding hammer acts as a half cock and automatically rebounds to a blocked position off the firing pins. As a result, this allows for safer reloading compared to other derringers.
The 4.5-inch Rawhide only weighs 21 ounces and slips nicely into any pocket or small compartment.
