OAKLAND — A man was shot multiple times Wednesday morning in East Oakland, authorities said.

The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

The shooting happened about 11:48 a.m. Wednesday in the 9800 block of Walnut Street, a residential neighborhood east of 98th Avenue.

The man was found outside suffering from more than two gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Police were trying to determine if the man was shot by someone in a passing vehicle or by someone who confronted him on the street. Several shell casings were recovered in the area.

A motive for the shooting was under investigation. No arrests were announced.
