A man hijacked a Muni bus in San Francisco on Friday night, careening more than a mile through the Mission District and crashing into several cars before being taken into custody, police said.
The hijacking happened just before 8 p.m. at Cortland Avenue and Mission Street. No passengers were on the bus at the time.
The 36-year-old suspect assaulted the driver, took control of the bus, and struck around ten cars before stopping at 19th and Guerrero Streets, where officers arrested him, police said.
A video obtained by KRON4 News appears to show the double Muni bus speeding through the Mission neighborhood, swerving into the opposite lane and sideswiping multiple cars.
An ambulance was called for the bus driver and the driver of another vehicle, but neither appeared seriously injured.
