SAN MATEO COUNTY – A 28-year-old Felton woman has been sentenced to nearly seven years in prison for a DUI crash near Half Moon Bay that killed a 31-year-old husband and seriously injured his 33-year-old pregnant wife, prosecutors said.

Liana Felde was driving southbound on Highway 1 south of Dehoff Canyon Road on the night of Feb. 27, 2021, when she crossed the center line and crashed head-on into Jesse Schouboe and Jennifer Jackson, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Schouboe was killed in the collision. Jackson, who was three months pregnant at the time, was seriously injured, along with the couple’s pet dog.

Felde was trapped in her car, which caught fire, but other drivers stopped to free her.

Felde smelled of alcohol and showed other symptoms of intoxication, prosecutors said, adding that a test two hours after the collision revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .24 percent.

On Oct. 14, 2022, Felde pleaded no contest to felony vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol, felony drunk driving causing injury, and felony driving with .08 percent blood alcohol concentration or higher causing injury.

Judge Elizabeth Hill on Tuesday sentenced Felde to six years and eight months in state prison, according to the district attorney’s office. Felde’s driver’s license was also revoked.

A restitution hearing has been set for Dec. 12.

Prosecutors said Felde addressed the court and apologized for the crime at the sentencing hearing, which was attended by Jackson and Schouboe’s father, mother and sister.
