CAMBRIAN>>Cambrian School District trustee Randy Scofield retired Nov. 17 after 28 years on the board. In that time, the district has seen six superintendents, and enrollment has grown by 36%. As a board member, Scofield had a hand in starting the district’s transitional kindergarten and extended day programs, opening charter schools and Steindorf STEAM School, increasing music and art education and developing ongoing revenue sources for the district’s six schools.
“Every one of those schools became a California Distinguished School,” Scofield said in a statement. “I look at those as things that I had a small part in helping drive to fruition.”
Scofield, a network security consultant for Cisco Systems, has five children who all attended Cambrian
WILLOW GLEN>>The Willow Glen Business Association is hosting a Holiday Bubbly Walk Dec. 3, 2-5 p.m., when businesses along Lincoln Avenue will be pouring sparkling wines from area wineries. Tickets are $55 at https://www.willowglen.org/willowglenbubblywalk and $65 the day of the event.
ALMADEN>>Seniors can register at the Almaden Community Center, 6445 Camden Ave., for a Dec. 13 trip to San Francisco’s Pier 39, where they will have lunch at Pier Market Restaurant. Afterward, participants can enjoy the sites, shop and explore on their own, then travel to Union Square to shop and enjoy the holiday lights and decor.
