Designed for use with railed subcompact weapons, the Streamlight TLR-8 Sub builds on the popular TLR-7 platform. However, the new weapon lights take things a step further with laser technology. Not to mention, the high-lumen output ensures that no potential threat is left undiscovered under the veil of darkness.

The Streamlight TLR-8 Sub Weapon-Mounted Light

Constructed of 6000 Series machined aircraft-grade aluminum, the TLR-8 Sub builds on the platform of the successful TLR-7. As a result, the TLR-8 Sub and TLR-8 G Sub feature the same impact-resistant durability and reliability as their predecessor. Likewise, the TLR-8 Sub models include IPX4 water resistance. However, it is worth noting that IP4 is the lowest rating, so you won’t want to submerge the TLR-8 Sub.

Measuring 2.51-inches long and 1.45- to 1.63-inches high (depending on model) the TLR-8 is a lightweight 2.77 ounces. Housed within the light is an LED that delivers 5,000 candelas and 500 lumens over a beam distance of 141 meters. Similarly, the custom TIR optic produces a concentrated beam with extensive range and optimized peripheral coverage.

With three lighting modes—LED only, LED/Laser, and user-enabled strobe—each has a runtime of 1.5 hours. Likewise, there are two laser color options—red and green. The red laser provides 60 hours of runtime, while the green offers 11 hours.

Each light takes a single 3-volt CR123A lithium battery and is operated via a next-generation rear paddle switch. Correspondingly, a safe-off feature locks the lights so they cannot be turned on accidentally.

Each model features a one-handed, snap-on, and tighten interface with a special clamp system for mounting to rails, using the provided key kit. They are designed to fit on certain Glock, Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory, and select 1913 short, railed subcompact handguns. Make sure to check with Streamlight to check fitment with your model.

“The TLR-8 sub and the TLR-8 G sub take the popular TLR-7® sub to new levels with the addition, respectively, of an integrated red and green aiming laser, to improve focusing on targets,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah.
