Exorbitant home sale prices in the Bay Area may be on the decline, but South Bay properties are still selling at lofty levels.
For example, this 1,503-square-foot three-bedroom, two-bathroom house in Santa Clara recently sold for $2.45 million. Following a long stretch where homes consistently sold above asking, this property went slightly below the listing price of $2.499 million. This is compared to the original purchase price of the home for $36,000 back in 1972, according to public records.
Located in the Birdland area on the border of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, the remodeled home features new flooring, a gourmet kitchen, master bedroom with custom shower, and a bonus mud/laundry room.
Outside there is also an outdoor kitchen, gas fire pit and night lighting. The home has easy access to freeways and Apple Park.
Gordon Ferguson with Coldwell Banker Realty was the listing agent.
The median sale price in the area is $2.49 million, up 11.9 percent over a year ago, but down from $2.8 million in April, according to Redfin.
