Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1955 Chrysler C-300 two-door hardtop. This Chrysler is the recipient of a frame-off restoration including a rebuilt 331ci Hemi paired to an automatic transmission. Equipment includes wire wheels on new whitewall tires and newer upholstery. Finished in Tango Red over a tan leather interior, this C-300 is now offered by the selling dealer and will include $90,000 in receipts, service manual, spare parts, Georgia title and more.
This inaugural C-300 was previously owned by one family long-term, and has received a fresh coat of Tango Red as part of a frame-off restoration. The refurbishment process included repairs to the rocker panels and replacement of the steel in the trunk floor. The selling dealer notes that there is some pitting on the emblems.
Chrome 15-inch wire wheels with knock-off spinner hubcaps are wrapped in new Coker whitewall tires.
The interior is trimmed with tan leather, matching door panels and headliner, and contrasting black dash, carpeting and floor mats. Amenities include power steering, analog clock and push-button Town and Country radio, which needs servicing.
Due to an undiagnosed electrical issue, the gauges are not currently working, but the available readouts include a 150-mph speedometer along with gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, voltage and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 17K miles, which the selling dealer states is accurate.
The rebuilt and reportedly numbers-matching 331ci FirePower Hemi features a dual four-barrel carburetor setup, radical camshaft and solid valve lifters to achieve 300 gross horsepower. The Hemi recently received a tune-up, carburetor and ignition work, a new wiring harness and an oil change. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a dash-shifted automatic transmission.
The suspension uses an independent front design and live rear axle. An alignment was recently performed.
The sale includes more than $90,000 in receipts, brochure, service manual, diecast model car and uninstalled spare parts, which can be seen in the photo gallery in the auction page. The gallery also includes cold-start, drive-by and other videos provided by the selling dealer.
