Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this modified 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop. This Chevy has been treated to a restoration less than 3,000 miles ago that incorporated a modern 5.7-liter V8 backed by a four-speed automatic transmission. Other features include a set of modern power accessories and other interior conveniences like JVC audio system. Finished in two-tone turquoise and white over a white leather interior, this 1955 Bel Air is now offered by a dealer with a clear Florida title.
This “Tri-Five” Bel Air has gone through a metamorphosis in recent years, which includes a fresh two-tone turquoise and white paint job plus custom treatments like shaved hood emblems, badging and trim, plus refurbished brightwork.
In place of the factory steel wheels are a set of polished aluminum Weld five-spoke mags.
Modernization has trickled down to the interior where the stock front bench has been replaced with reupholstered late-model bucket seats, door panels and center console, all trimmed in white leather. Complementary carpeting and floor mats are trimmed in black. Additional features include tilt-adjustable steering column and JVC sound system.
AutoMeter gauges include a 120-mph speedometer along with other pertinent readouts. The indicated 2,445 miles on the odometer reflects the distance driven since completion of the restoration.
A fuel-injected 5.7-liter small-block from a later-model Chevrolet provides forward momentum for this Bel Air. The transmission has been upgraded to a 700R4 automatic with four forward speeds.
Steering is power-assisted, and stopping is handled by power front disc brakes and rear drums. Pictures showing the refinished underside are available in the auction photo gallery.
The auction for this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air ends on Monday, November 7, at 12:00 p.m. (PDT)
