Verizon Communications delivered third-quarter results that largely beat expectations and maintained its financial forecast. That doesn’t seem to be enough for the market—and it looks worse compared with AT&T (T).

Stripping out one-time items, Verizon reported earnings of $1.32 per share, topping analyst expectations of $1.29 per share but down from $1.41 a year ago. Revenue of $34.2 billion was higher than the $33.8 billion analysts had predicted.
