HAYWARD — A man sitting inside a parked vehicle died last weekend after another car crashed into it near an intersection, police said.
The wreck on Oct. 8 happened near W. Winton Avenue and Thunderbird Place. Police were called to the scene about 2:45 a.m.
In a statement, Hayward police said they believe the man who died was sitting in a parked car when the crash happened. Officers found him unconscious, and medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities did not identify the man immediately early Thursday.
The driver and at least one passenger in the vehicle that hit the parked one returned to the scene after initially leaving it, police said. They are cooperating with the police investigation.
Police did not announce any arrests.
