Lamborghini unveiled its new high-performance Urus S that features a 657 bhp 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. The Urus S will replace the original Urus and joins Lamborghini’s SUV lineup with the Urus Performante.

“The Urus has proven its appeal for those seeking the decisive combination of the sportiest SUV and a Lamborghini to drive every day: the Urus S sits perfectly alongside the new Urus Performante, for those choosing the purest sublimation of performance, luxury and versatility,” says Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Urus’ commercial success, with more than 20,000 vehicles produced, is testament to its credentials as the first and enduring Super SUV: the Urus S elevates that reputation.”

The 657 bhp, which is a 16-horse boost from the original Urus, comes on at 6,000 rpm, with 626 lb-ft of torque coming on at 2,300-4,500 rpm. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, plus the Urus S features all-wheel drive with an integrated front differential, Torsen central differential and active torque-vectoring rear differential.

With an improved weight-to-power ratio of 3.3 kg/cv (7.28 lbs/hp), Lamborghini states that the new Urus S can accelerate from 0-100 kph (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and 0-200 kph (124 mph) in 12.5-seconds. Top speed is a robust 305 kph (189.5 mph), and stopping from 100 kph takes 110.5 feet.

The Urus S rides on an adaptive air suspension with STRADA, SPORT, CORSA and EGO drive modes for road surfaces, and TERRA, NEVE and SABBIA modes for off-road motoring. This contrasts with the track-centric Urus Performante, which uses steel springs.

Lamborghini has not released U.S. prices for the 2023 Urus S, but prices for the European Union will start at €195,538 ($191,441.48) without tax.
