OAKLAND — A 21-year-old woman was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning after she was wounded in the face by gunfire, police said.
The woman awoke to gunfire in the 10700 block of Apricot Street about 11:40 p.m. on Monday and realized she’d been wounded in the face, police said. A person drove her to a hospital; authorities did not say anything more about the nature of her injuries.
Investigators recovered several bullets and shell casings but have not determined whether the woman was the intended target. Police said at least one other residence was hit by the gunfire. Nobody else was injured.
Police have not made an arrest.
The shooting was the first in Oakland since a violent 29-hour stretch that saw four people killed and multiple others wounded in city shootings.
