PLEASANT HILL — A second man has been charged with four felonies following a shooting at a park less than an hour after a high school football game, authorities said
The 19-year-old Pittsburg man was charged with four counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, according to a statement from the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office. Police arrested him on Sept. 21.
Authorities already had charged a 19-year-old Antioch man with the same crimes earlier this month. They’d arrested him on Sept. 11.
The charges against both men all carry enhancements that could extend their sentences if they are found guilty, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 10:55 p.m. on Sept. 9. A group of high school students were at Pleasant Oaks Park on Santa Barbara Road, not long after a College Park High football game. Authorities said that as the students hung out, shots were fired in their general direction.
Nobody was injured.
Several witnesses saw two males flee the scene in a black car. Police were able to identify the car and its occupants, leading to the arrests.
One of the men was listed in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $680,000 bail. The other man was not listed in custody Tuesday morning.
