After having last week off, the Bay Area News Group’s top-ranked team is back on the field as the Serra Padres open West Catholic Athletic League play Friday at ninth-ranked St. Francis.
Second-ranked De La Salle, fresh off winning on the road over Cathedral-San Diego, returns home Friday to play Folsom.
Pittsburg was ranked third last week and remained there after losing 23-15 to Folsom.
As painful as it was for Pittsburg — four interceptions and a blocked punt and field goal crushed the Pirates — that wasn’t a bad loss in a big-picture sense.
Menlo-Atherton fell three spots, from fourth to seventh, after losing by four touchdowns at Del Oro-Loomis.
Clayton Valley and Archbishop Riordan also fell.
