OAKLAND — A man and his wife asleep, inside their home, were among four people wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.

All four people were in stable condition Wednesday, authorities said.

The gunfire happened about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of 92nd Avenue, a primarily residential area.

Initial reports were that occupants of two vehicles were involved in a rolling gun battle that ended with both vehicles crashing, police said. When the occupants of the vehicles got outside, they were shot at by at least one person in another vehicle that drove by, authorities said.

At one point, stray bullets went into a home, wounding a 50-year-old woman and her 56-year-old husband who were asleep, authorities said. Both were taken to a hospital.

Some parked vehicles were also hit by the gunfire but no other injured people were found at the time at the scene, police said. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene.

However, authorities said a short time later a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman showed up at a hospital with gunshot wounds they sustained in the shooting. Investigators believe the man was in one of the vehicles that crashed and that the woman may have been with him.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $25,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrests of suspects in the shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
