Update: Originally estimated at 4.2, the earthquake has been revised to 4.0.
A magnitude 4 earthquake was recorded Thursday morning near Pinnacles National Park, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, at 6:36 a.m., was centered along the San Benito River about 2 miles northeast of the park boundary.
Early reports to the USGS Did You Feel It website indicate it was felt in Santa Cruz and Gilroy.
It was the largest quake in California since a 4.5 in Mono County just west of the Nevada line on Aug. 8.
